How to dress up denim

Hi everyone!

Denim pieces are a wardrobe staple in my opinion and they can be worn from day to night. However, most of us have a mistaken idea that denim pieces can only be dressed down. I have therefore decided to give you some outfit inspiration - whether going on a girls night out, an evening out with friends, or on a date night - to show you that denim is not just about dressing down! If you feel that you're not 'dressy' enough by wearing blue denim, you can always opt for black or charcoal denim instead. As for the shoes, I feel that a pair of heels instantly transform a denim outfit (or any outfit, really) into a more dressy one. And don't forget your jewellery and accessories, as they are also a key factor when it comes to dressing up an outfit.
Outfit 1: Crop top // Dungarees // Boots
Outfit 2: Crop top // Pencil skirt // Court Shoes
Outfit 3: Varsity tee // Shorts // Sandals

What do you think of these outfit ideas? Would you wear any of them for a night out?

How I Style • Motel Louise Sheer Midi Dress

Hi everyone!

In keeping with the Motel Rocks theme of my last How I Style post, I have created yet another Polyvore set of how I would style their Louise Sheer Midi Dress for a night time look.

What distinguishes this little black dress from others is its sheer textured skirt. I really love its sophisticated but somewhat edgy touch. The skirt reveals a knicker style hot pants lining, so it might not be a favourite with everyone, but this can be easily 'fixed' if worn with a pair of black tights underneath (don't wear sandals if you're wearing black tights!). To create a night time look, I opted to pair the dress with a black leather jacket, which in my opinion, gives the outfit that extra oomph factor. With regards to the shoes, I chose a gorgeous black and gold Zara sandals for an instant elegant feel to the outfit. For accessorise, I chose the to-die-for Givenchy Antigona clutch and a gold three row chunky chain necklace to go with the gold detail found on the heels.

What do you think of this outfit? Is it something you would wear for a night out? How would you style the dress?

How I Style • Motel Tinkerbell Shirt Dress in Acid Wash Denim

Hi everyone!

You all know by now how much I love Motel Rocks. I think that their pieces are sometimes on the edgier side, which I love, and not something that you find in every other online clothing store. I also love Polyvore, and spend endless hours creating outfits in order to get inspiration of how I can wear clothing and shoe pieces. I have therefore created a small collage of how I would style the Motel Tinkerbell dress. I knew I had to get this dress once I saw it on the Motel website. So, I did. And I fell more in love with it once I tried it on.

Two of my favourite items in my wardrobe are my polka dot tights and a pair of blue, mustard and tan brogues which I got around two years ago from Office. I think that this buttoned-up denim dress goes really well with the whole combination of polka dots and brogues. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a photo of my brogues on the Internet, but this pair from Miista is oh-so-lovely.

For accessories, the much sought after gold Casio watch and a small tan leather bag are perfect for the look I had in mind. To finish off the look, I added a pair of cat eye tortoise shell sunglasses as no Spring outfit is complete without a pair of sunglasses.

What do you think of this outfit? How would you style the dress?

Just a small reminder that you can get a whopping 20% off your Motel Rocks orders by using the code annalisegrech at checkout.
Code cannot be used on sale items and it does not expire.

Store Spotlight • Bambi & Manson

Hello! My name is Annalise, and I'm addicted to Polyvore. Every spare minute I have is spent creating sets on this beloved website. This week, I was hooked to Bambi & Manson's website, and as usual, I found myself creating Polyvore outfits using their unbelievably gorgeous Limited Edition denim shorts. For those of you who are not familiar with this label, Bambi & Manson is run by Polly and her boyfriend Jim, and was started after Polly created her own shorts and got a huge response. Everything is hand made by this lovely couple. Bambi is the cute side with denims featuring frills, floral and fluff, while Manson is the edgier side featuring leather, crucifix's, studded pockets, rips and frays. After getting an overdose of fabulous shorts, these are the outfits that I came up with, all showing how I would style Bambi & Manson BAMS.

I decided to team up this gorgeous galaxy print denim shorts with a white turtle neck shirt and a studded denim jacket. For accessories, I chose a pair of tan brogues and a small tan leather bag. The tan colour combined with this outfit may not be everyone's taste, however, I think it goes quite well, while also giving the outfit a bit of contrast. To finish off the look, I chose this mermaid necklace with the same colours of the shorts.

I immediately fell in love with these unicorn shorts from the minute I saw them on the website. I knew exactly how I would style these lovely pair - with a white Céline tee and a leather jacket to keep with the black and white theme of the shorts. I then decided to take this look a step further by teaming the outfit with Jeffrey Campbell's Freda. To finish off the look, I chose a silver and gold studded duffle bag, and an amazing chunky gold pony necklace. I'm in love.

This last look I created is probably my favourite of these three. It's probably because I really love the whole 'motorcycle look', and that is what this outfit screams to me. I teamed up these black shorts with the Jack Daniels tee that is currently on my December wishlist and also with a studded denim jacket with PU leather sleeves. To keep with the motorcycle theme, I chose these studded black boots. I LOVE THEM. Then I finished off the look with a classic burgundy satchel to give this outfit a pop of colour, and with black, gold, and silver rings.

What do you think of these Bambi & Manson shorts? Do you like how I styled them? And how would you style them?
