OTTD • Check Mate!

Hi everyone!

Autumn has started, but the weather in Malta is still super hot! Can you believe that the temperature today was about 33°C? I love the sun, but I prefer cold weather, especially because I get to wear my blazers, boots and cosy scarves. Anyways, enough ranting. I got this oversized check shirt the other day from FrontRowShop and I loved it so much that I just had to wear it, even though the weather wasn't so appropriate. It feels very soft since it is made from cotton, so it will definitely be my go to piece in winter. I can already imagine me layering it with a plain tee, a pair of black jeans, my leather jacket and chunky heeled boots. I teamed the check shirt with a plain black top and my favourite pair of denim shorts, which I recently got from Hanmattan. To spice up the look, I also wore this pair of Gypsy Mock Suspender Tights. They are being sold for only £5.00 (€5.89/$7.99) from OMG Fashion, so they're a real bargain! I know they are not everyone's cup of tea, but I think they tie up the whole outfit perfectly. I finished off the outfit with my trusty old pair of ASOS chelsea boots which I got last winter, and accessorised with a simple silver moon necklace.

What do you think of this outfit? How would you style the oversized check shirt?

A/W '12 Must Haves

Hi everyone!

With more than half of Autumn almost over, I decided to dedicate today's post to Autumn/Winter must have pieces.

Military Jacket/Parka
With the military trend so in, a camouflage military jacket or an army green parka are a must have item in my A/W wardrobe. I love the fact that these jackets can have a manly or feminine feel to them according to certain small details. I personally like men-inspired vintage camouflage military jackets. However, if you prefer more feminine clothes, a peplum military jacket or a parka with leather sleeves will do the trick for you.

Chunky Necklaces
The chunky necklace trend has been spotted everywhere - on the runways, on TV shows... - and I am in love with it, simply because it can make an outfit stand out due to its statement nature. It can be worn with a buttoned shirt, with a plain t-shirt, and even with a going out dress to transform an otherwise boring outfit. The only thing that one has to keep in mind is to keep the rest of the outfit simple, and let the necklace do the talking.

Hats/Beanies
Hats and beanies are a great way to dress down an outfit in my opinion, and they can cover up our bad hair days. Super! They tend to be quite masculine, though, so one has to make sure that the rest of the outfit is not so manly.

Leather Jacket
Leather is another prominent trend this season, but my must have piece is definitely a leather jacket. What's there not to love about a leather jacket? Even if a black leather jacket is quite boring for your tastes, there are always other styles, such as studded leather jackets, fringed leather jackets, or even peplum leather jackets.

Tartan Scarves
A scarf is a must have piece in these cold months of the year. So why not do it the fashionable way? Tartan scarves complete and brighten up a simple outfit. Everyone seems to be wearing them, so I guess it is a loved trend. I know I love tartan prints!

Chelsea Boots
Chelsea boots. Who doesn't love chelsea boots? What is mostly exciting is that designers have designed these shoes in a wide array of styles - from heeled chelsea boots, to wellies, to leather chelsea boots - so rest assured that everyone will find a favourite style. Bang on trend while keeping your feet warm - sold

Oxblood Pants
Oxblood has been the hottest colour of this season, and it looks great on all skin tones. I prefer to wear trousers in autumn and winter rather than skirts, so an oxblood pants is a must have item. Oxblood pants can be dressed up or down to suit different occasions. However, if you want to be super stylish, choose a leather oxblood pants.

Which are your A/W must have items?

Street Style • Oxblood

Hi everyone!

The most prominent colour trend this seasons is, with no doubt, Oxblood. Everyone, or nearly everyone, seems to like this colour. And what's there not to like? Because of it's rich and deep hues, it screams Autumn, and also suits every skin tone and hair colour. I mostly love how this colour gives an outfit a dark and mysterious look.

From Oxblood bags, jumpers, trousers, coats, and shoes, among an array of other clothing and accessory pieces, this is how the Fashionistas are wearing the Oxblood colour trend this season.

From these finds, my favourite outfits are definitely those worn by men. What is it with me and men's clothes? From the outfits worn by the ladies, I love the outfit combination of the Oxblood fur coat and black leather trousers. What about you? Which is/are your favourite from these Street Style outfits?

What do you think of this colour trend? Will you be including Oxblood in your Fall outfits? I know I am.

Gorgeous Maddy

Hi everyone!

The other day I bought this gorgeous Maddy bag from Accessorize. It was love at first sight, and I'm still deeply in love with it. This bag is made from PU leather in two colour blocks - black and tan - making it suitable to wear with most outfits. It is of a reasonable size and has a long strap, so it is perfect for a day out shopping or even a night out. What I mostly fell in love with, apart from its shape, colours, and vintage look, is the gold reindeer detail it has stuck to its front pocket, as it screams winter to me. And I love winter! I haven't actually worn this bag yet since the weather in Malta is still very hot, and we're still running around wearing summer clothes. I already know, though, that this will be one of those items that is going to get a lot of wear from me during the winter months. Can't wait.

I suggest you visit the Accessorize website or your local Accessorize shop since they have loads other gorgeous bags to complete your autumn/winter outfit.
