Midnight Waters • Miista's A/W 2013 Lookbook

Hi everyone!

It's no secret that I prefer all things Winter, starting from the weather and all the festivities that come with that time of the year, and finishing off with winter clothes, shoes and accessories. You can therefore imagine how excited I was when Miista's A/W 2013 lookbook was finally released, even more so since I love this label. Titled 'Midnight Waters', this lookbook was shot by renowned fashion photographer Philip Meech, who captured the dark and haunting yet beautiful quality of the looks.

The inspiration plunges into the depths of dark waters and resurfaces to a wintry landscape of melancholy beauty. Beams of moonlight bounce across the water as eyes adjust to the surrounding deep brilliance of colour. Steps here cause fleets of emerald beetles to flee, scampering atop the long forgotten vegetables of seasons past. The pale Winter is upon us: translucent skin, drying flower petals, the soft light of magic hour, the inevitable darkness. A quiet wild garden where the world shifts from abundance to a time of silent death and decay. Flowers wilt, vegetables plump up with past ripe volume; as if underwater, this progression is infinitesimally slow and filled with rich blended colour.

Navy, black, oxblood, dark brown, bottle green and deep oranges together with some rich purples woven into the colour-scape populate the palette. Silk, velvet and wet look leathers are the building blocks of this collection, which are then accented with subtle metal detailing and colour gradients. Materials are both matte and metallic, and they even included the lucite detail from last season.

Modelled by the flawless Max and Skye, this season's collection looks amazingly alluring. The luxurious clothing carefully curated by Marie-Louise Von Haselberg together with the gorgeous real flower headpieces created by Lara Jensen perfectly compliment the shoes by adding a touch of femininity to the bold looks.

I was super ecstatic to see the Zoe design in some other A/W prints. Yes, Zoe is my all-time favourite Miista shoes. I am also very excited about the release of Pandora and Maia - THEY WILL BE MINE. These A/W 2013 styles (and the entire collection) will be hitting the stores at the end of August, so make sure you regularly check out Miista's website

What do you think of this lookbook? Which style is your favourite?

S/S '13 Must Haves

Hi everyone!

Malta's weather is currently hot and sunny. No, I'm not complaining! I already started to incorporate some summer pieces to my outfits, so I decided to share with you all my Spring/Summer must have items.

Brogues
As the temperature starts to increase, boots are usually put to the side and replaced with sandals. Brogues are, however, another great alternative for this time of year since they can be worn without socks too. And the more coloured/eye catching the style of the brogues, the better! As you may know from my latest Designer vs Deal post, I'm currently eyeing this iridescent pair from Miista.

Floral headbands/crowns
What better way is there to accessorise an outfit than by wearing a vintage headband or floral crown? Especially in the Spring season, these pieces would look great when worn with a simple tee and a pair of boyfriend jeans for example. And how well does the pastel coloured floral crown go with the Miista brogues? Love.

Denim Shorts
Denim shorts are a perfect go to piece of clothing especially in the Summer months. Simply wear with a tee tucked in it and you're ready to go. There are loads of coloured denim shorts out there too, so don't be too scared to try on something new. After all, Summer is all about fun, right?

Oversized tees
I personally don't like clothes that are too fitted in Summer, so these oversized tees from River Island are perfect. They would look super great if worn with a chunky chain necklace, and the best thing about them is that they are bang on the rolled-up sleeve trend.

Sunglasses
Another Spring/Summer must have, and one of the most essential I must add, is a pair of sunglasses. The sun's rays are extreme sometimes, and even if they aren't, sunglasses can finish off an outfit quite nicely. I'm currently loving this pair from Romwe, and it goes perfectly well with any outfit due to it's neutral colour.

Frilly socks
Filly socks. I love them. I definitely think that they add a somewhat girly touch to an outfit, and would look great worn with brogues too! These gingham trim ankle socks from Topshop are the cutest.

Which are your S/S must haves? I just realised that all the items that I mentioned in this post can be worn together! That wasn't my intention, but I'm glad it turned out that way :)

Designer vs Deal #5 • Shoes Edition

Hi everyone!

We are all aware of the fact that high street brands are all the more producing affordable dupes of otherwise quite expensive designer pieces that are not so friendly to everyone's budget - be it shoes, clothes, jewellery and even accessories. I decided to dedicate this post specifically to shoes, as you all know that shoes are very close to my heart. Yes, I am still a shoe addict.

While browsing the Internet, I stumbled upon a number of shoes that are, in one way or another, very similar to the designer piece. The aim of this post is not to tell you to avoid buying a designer piece and instead opt for it's affordable dupe, but merely to make you aware that designer dupes are nearly everywhere these days, and this is surely good news to those who cannot afford the oh-so-expensive designer items.

What do you think of these shoes? There are surely some pretty awesome dupes out there right? Are any of these designer shoes on your wishlist? I am currently lusting over the gorgeous Miista Zoe oxfords. Their hologram look makes them perfect for the Spring season. Will you be purchasing the designer's affordable dupe now that you know they exist? Or would you rather purchase the designer pieces anyway?

If there is a designer piece that you love so much but cannot afford it and want a dupe of it, get in touch with me through Facebook or Twitter, or else send me an email, and I'll include the affordable dupe in my next Designer vs Deal post!
