I was sent this look book by Beginning Boutique, an Australian based online store that offers both local (Australian) and international street labels to customers from all over the world.
''Beginning Boutique is your one stop shop for all things street wear!'' - The Style Net
This month, their photographer travelled to NYC and shot this look book, which they titled 'Concrete Jungle'. Emulating fashion week street style with slight hints of masculinity, the styling is young and edgy. As can be seen from the look book photos, this collection consists of sequins, leather, and floral pieces, among others..bang on current trends! The accessories and jewellery pieces that are seen in this look book are also available from the Beginning Boutique website. I am in love with this look book. The clothes, the photos, the settings, the styling.. everything!
With more than half of Autumn almost over, I decided to dedicate today's post to Autumn/Winter must have pieces.
With the military trend so in, a camouflage military jacket or an army green parka are a must have item in my A/W wardrobe. I love the fact that these jackets can have a manly or feminine feel to them according to certain small details. I personally like men-inspired vintage camouflage military jackets. However, if you prefer more feminine clothes, a peplum military jacket or a parka with leather sleeves will do the trick for you.
The chunky necklace trend has been spotted everywhere - on the runways, on TV shows... - and I am in love with it, simply because it can make an outfit stand out due to its statement nature. It can be worn with a buttoned shirt, with a plain t-shirt, and even with a going out dress to transform an otherwise boring outfit. The only thing that one has to keep in mind is to keep the rest of the outfit simple, and let the necklace do the talking.
Hats and beanies are a great way to dress down an outfit in my opinion, and they can cover up our bad hair days. Super! They tend to be quite masculine, though, so one has to make sure that the rest of the outfit is not so manly.
A scarf is a must have piece in these cold months of the year. So why not do it the fashionable way? Tartan scarves complete and brighten up a simple outfit. Everyone seems to be wearing them, so I guess it is a loved trend. I know I love tartan prints!
Chelsea boots. Who doesn't love chelsea boots? What is mostly exciting is that designers have designed these shoes in a wide array of styles - from heeled chelsea boots, to wellies, to leather chelsea boots - so rest assured that everyone will find a favourite style. Bang on trend while keeping your feet warm - sold!
Oxblood has been the hottest colour of this season, and it looks great on all skin tones. I prefer to wear trousers in autumn and winter rather than skirts, so an oxblood pants is a must have item. Oxblood pants can be dressed up or down to suit different occasions. However, if you want to be super stylish, choose a leather oxblood pants.
I had massive positive feedback on my previous Designer vs Deal posts (#1) and (#2), so I decided that I would blog more often on my deal finds. The items in this post are those pieces that are very popular in the blogosphere right now. Even though everybody loves designer pieces, their price can be quite a big shock to our credit cards. While browsing fashion websites for shopping, I came across these deal products which made me look twice at them. Firstly, because they are nearly identical to the designer pieces, and secondly, due to the fact that their price is not designer at all. So what's there not to like about them?
What do you think about these pieces? Would you purchase a dupe of a designer item to spend less? Or would you rather spend more on the real designer piece?
If there is a designer piece that you love so much but cannot afford it and want a dupe of it, get in touch with me through Facebook or Twitter, or else by email, and I'll include the affordable dupe in my next Designer vs Deal post!
A while ago, I was invited to
review some jewellery by Cherry Baby, a UK based online accessories boutique
inspired by all things pretty, fun and fresh. And how could I ever say no to pretty jewellery? Their collections consist of unique accessories which are perfect
to get the celebrity inspired look at very affordable prices (starting from
just £2). A good number of the pieces found at Cherry Baby are handmade using
recycled and vintage materials, but they also do custom-made and limited
The A/W 2012 collections - namely
Pop Art, Retro, Wonderland, Have a little Faith, and Vintage Lover - have now
launched on the Cherry Baby website, and include rings, earrings, bracelets,
necklaces, brooches, pendants, hair accessories, compact mirrors and sunglasses,
all with super cute charms and Cherry Baby’s signature bright colours and
images. We should also expect to see more pieces inspired by the 80s, My
Little Pony, Care Bears, She Ra! and so much more. How exciting is that? I’m
especially looking forward to the My Little Pony and Care Bears collections,
which remind me of my childhood days!
I was given the opportunity to choose my favourite item from their
website, and I immediately fell for the Cat Chase necklace (for obvious cat
obsession reasons :)). Together with the necklace, the lovely people at Cherry Baby sent me a surprise item – the Birds Nest ring. Unfortunately, the ring is a bit too small for my chubby fingers as
it is not adjustable. However, I will surely put good use to it, maybe I'll wear it as a pendant. I’ll see where my creativity takes me. Both pieces are really pretty,
and not something one would find in each and every store. I am mostly looking forward to wear the cat necklace. I love the contrasting colours of its charms.
I love jewellery and accessories, as I personally think that they give an outfit that oomph factor, and can also transform a boring outfit. Last month, I purchased some gorgeous pieces from 3 brands which certainly need no introduction.
Rock Quartz on gold necklace (£8.00)
I purchased this Rock Quartz on Gold Necklace from Delilah Dust. I had been eyeing this necklace for quite some time, and when they had an offer for their Facebook fans, I immediately added this beauty to my cart. The offer consisted of 5% off one's order, and also a free Delilah Dust wish necklace. Super!
These photos really don't do any justice to these necklaces, as they are much more pretty in real life. The chain of the Rock Quartz necklace was a bit too long for my tastes, but I put the chain twice round my neck and it fit perfectly.
Another purchase I made was from I Love Crafty, which is my all time favourite jewellery brand. Can I have everything from this shop? I love all the unique pieces, especially those from the 'Feline Fatale Collection', due to the fact that I am in love with cats. All the items at I Love Crafty are handmade, so it makes them even more special.
These Kitty collar tips were in my October wishlist and I was so thrilled when I received my order. The packaging was out of this world - the collar tips came in a small black box, which was then in a bright pink velvet pouch. So pretty! The kitty collar tips are really, really gorgeous and I couldn't stop showing them to friends and family members. They were a real hit with everybody. Unfortunately, due to my very delicate nature (not!) I already broke an eye of one of these kitties! Heart broken. But I'm still in love with them just the same, and they still look as pretty as every!
Wearing my Kitty Collar Tips with pride!
I Love Crafty offer FREE postage and packaging to the UK!
Visit their website here. They ship Internationally!
Visit their Etsy Shop here and here. They have some sets which are perfect for Xmas presents.
Some pieces can also be purchased from Motel Rocks here.
Last month, I won a giveaway on Twitter hosted by The Jewels Boutique. I had never owned anything from them before, so I was so happy with the £10 gift card. I was so unsure of what I should choose as I loved everything from their website. I finally chose a Gold Choker necklace and an Aztec skull ring. These items came in a black tulle pouch with black ribbon, which was so lovely and perfect for their storage! I suggest you check out their store as everything is so nice and really affordable!
So, as some of you might know, especially those who follow me on Twitter, next Saturday is my Birthday. Whoop! This wishlist consists of items that I have been lusting for during the last month. I therefore decided that it would be perfect to base my November wishlist according to what presents I would love to receive for my Birthday. Yes, I want to be spoilt even more for my Birthday! Well, who doesn't? :)
The majority of these items are black or with hues of grey. These colours are my wardrobe staples, and would be great for the coming holiday season. With regards to the knit snood, well, it looks really warm, and oxblood is perfect for autumn/winter. The rabbit lamp is just a cute accessory that I would love to add to my bedroom. It's too adorable right?
Are any of these pieces on your wishlist too?
Don't forget that you can get a whopping 20% off your Motel Rocks purchases by using the code annalisegrech at checkout!
A perfect opportunity to purchase your Christmas outfits and presents.
I was given the opportunity to review an e-book titled Shopping in London on a Budget by Jocelina Paixão Fortes, released last June. I immediately accepted the offer since through this book, the author shows that it is possible to find budget shops in one of the most popular and expensive cities in Europe. Do you travel to London frequently for shopping? Are you travelling to London soon? Maybe going to London for Christmas shopping or for Christmas sales? Do you love to shop at the best budget shops of London? If you nodded to these questions, then this e-book is definitely for you.
The content section of this book is divided in three, namely Oxford Street, Camden Town, and Covent Garden, which happen to be the most famous shopping spots in London. Under each heading, one can find a list of clothing, shoes, health & beauty, vintage, souvenir, and book shops, among others, where you can shop on a budget. The must-visit shops listed in this book include Primark, Forever 21, Topshop, Cool Brittania, and Boots, among others. What I love about this section is the fact that each shop name is clickable, so one can be taken to the shop of interest directly, and not spend ages scrolling to try and find each shop.
The design of the book is simple, with a very neat format of text and a generous amount of photos. Each shop section starts with a photo of the particular shop, and then a section dedicated to important information, namely the shop address (including a clickable map link to guide you on the exact shop location) and opening times, price indication, payment options, sales periods (for an even more budget experience), and the shop's website. The following pages contain a small paragraph of information on the shop from the author's eyes, and photos of what one can expect to find in each respective shop, including actual photos of items that were available for purchase at the time when the author was writing this book. The below photos give you an example of Forever 21's shop section in this book.
At the end of the shop guide section, the author included her wishlist on Instagram (which I think is amazing and quite original), and some pictures of London, a shopping route, and a very useful guide on where to stay in London for a budget friendly price, and the best travel deals to get to London.
This e-book is only $9.95 $1.00 (approximately €0.78 / £0.63) during the month of November, so it is an absolute bargain. Being an e-book, it can be easily viewed on a personal computer, e-reader, and even on an iPad, so it is perfect to use it as a guide while actually shopping.
The author wrote another e-book on Shopping in Rotterdam on a Budget, and plans on releasing e-books on budget shopping for the following cities too: Amsterdam, Antwerp, Paris, Copenhagen, Rome, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Porto, Stockholm, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Istanbul and Dublin. So check out Jocelina's Lifestyle blog here to be the first to know when the new e-books are released.
The most prominent colour trend this seasons is, with no doubt, Oxblood. Everyone, or nearly everyone, seems to like this colour. And what's there not to like? Because of it's rich and deep hues, it screams Autumn, and also suits every skin tone and hair colour. I mostly love how this colour gives an outfit a dark and mysterious look.
From Oxblood bags, jumpers, trousers, coats, and shoes, among an array of other clothing and accessory pieces, this is how the Fashionistas are wearing the Oxblood colour trend this season.
From these finds, my favourite outfits are definitely those worn by men. What is it with me and men's clothes? From the outfits worn by the ladies, I love the outfit combination of the Oxblood fur coat and black leather trousers. What about you? Which is/are your favourite from these Street Style outfits?
What do you think of this colour trend? Will you be including Oxblood in your Fall outfits? I know I am.
